We're wrapping up a year and a half of D&D 4th edition. It's a good time to make the jump to lightspeed. I think we all like 4e just fine, but a change of pace seems like a good idea.
I received a copy of the Legacy Era sourcebook from a giveaway on NewbieDM's website, which is influencing the direction of this campaign. The events in this time period take place about 130 years after the Battle of Yavin and the destruction of the first Death Star. Here's a synopsis of the intervening years:
- 5 - 19 ABY (after the battle of yavin) - The New Republic is born, and fights a series of skirmishes and wars with the remnants of the Empire. The New Republic eventually wins.
- 25-29 ABY - The Yuuzhan Vong nearly conquer the galaxy in just a few years with their biotechnology, but are stopped by the discovery of their living homeworld. The remaining Vong are hated and feared, but remain in pockets throughout the galaxy.
- 28 ABY - The New Republic is disbanded during the Vong War, and the Galactic Alliance takes its place.
- 40-43 ABY - The Galactic Alliance is secretly manipulated by the Sith into fighting the Second Galactic Civil War against the Corellian Confederacy. The Alliance reunites with the Confederacy, but Luke Skywalker and the Jedi Order separate from galactic politics.
- 43-127 ABY - The remnant of the Empire grows strong again with the influence of Imperial Knights, light-side force users in the vein of the Jedi, but who give their allegiance to the new Emperor, Jagged Fel, and his descendants. The Sith are reborn during this time, and abandon the Rule of Two, growing their numbers.
- 127-130 ABY - The Sith take control of the Empire as a result of the Sith-Imperial War. Darth Krayt becomes the new Emperor and rules openly as a Sith Lord. Emperor Roan Fel goes into exile with many of his forces, and the Galactic Alliance remains only as a roaming fleet opposed to both Empires.
i can already tell this is the worst campaign yet
